Leeds Castle
On Sunday (11NOV07) I was visiting Leeds Castle with a colleague. We were meeting at Victoria Station by 9 O'clock in the morning and bought cheap day return tickets from a ticket selling machine. We got tickets from London to Maidstone east. The train departed at 9:18 and then arrived at its destination at 10:20.
We were looking for a coach to Leeds castle around this station but we found nothing. We asked a station officer about the coach, how to get there and he told us "if you want to get to Leeds castle you have to alight at Bearsted station (next station) where the coach is or go to a bus station and look for a bus to get there but I'm not sure".We realized we had bought the wrong tickets and then we decided to go there by bus.We were walking though a shopping street in town to go to the bus station at the end of the street. We were looking for a bus which went to Leeds castle. We found only one bus that could go there (route 13) but it was not working on Sunday.
So we came back to the train station and looked for the next train but the train was delaying so we had to wait an hour and a half for it.We decided to go back to the shopping street again for lunch. We were looking for a cheap restaurant on the street.A traditional English breakfast restaurant was chosen.I paid £3.80 for a breakfast set with a cup of coffee and my colleague paid £3.00 for the same set but he chose a cup of English tea.We were waiting until the time.We got on the train at 12:38 and arrived at Bearsted before 12:50.The coach was easily found but it looked like a van(a coach we had imagined is not like this). We had to pay £5 each person to a van driver for a return ticket. Before moved to the castle the driver told us about the time to returned "When you want to return to the train station you have to be at the bus stop at ten past two,ten past three and the last coach departs at ten past four.If you miss all of them don't panic we have a next coach in the tomorrow morning"he said.
Whatever we were visiting Leeds castle.
